10/1/24 Leech Lake fishing report

A smiling man and two children, all wearing hats and jackets, proudly hold up a large fish on a fishing boat. The lake and wooded shoreline are visible in the background, capturing an auto draft of their perfect adventure.

Walleye fishing on leech lake has been pretty darn good the past while and only looks to improve as water temps fall in Fall. Water Temps were 68 deg this past weekend with temps over 70 in shallow areas by afternoon. We are still catching most fish with bobbers and leeched /crawlers or jigging artificials over most of the deeper sand flats in 11- 18ft. Utilize side imaging until you find groups of fish. Locate the fish and spotlock 30-50ft away and mitch at areas holding fish specifically on calm days. With wind, lindys and crawlers or minnows as well as spinners can be trolled over the areas holding fish. Early and late in the day crank baits (#5-#7 shad raps) can be trolled over the flats moving 2-2.5 mph. Goose Island flats, Pine point flats and the areas around Annex reef have been good for walleye this week.

Three people are standing in a wooden shed, each holding up two fish. They appear to be proud of their catch. The shed has windows all around, letting in natural light, and some trees are visible outside. It's almost as if the scene was created through auto draft perfection.

We have limited openings in October but there is some availability for the best bite of the year that is a couple weeks out.
