9/26/24 Leech Lake Fishing Report

A person wearing a green jacket and sunglasses stands on a boat in a large body of water, holding a large fish they caught. The weather appears clear with a blue sky and the water looks calm. The person looks content with their catch, making for an impressive fishing report from Leech Lake on 9/26/24.

Walleye fishing on Leech Lake has really started to pick up. Reports of Walleye fishing has been best pulling cranks and using jigs in and around sand and weed flats on Leech Lake. The water temps are still pushing 70 deg by afternoon so the true fall bite locations have not yet been consistent. Look for depths in the 14-18ft range on most days. Some of the best locations have been between Annex Reef and Sugar point on the deep flats also the deeper flats of Portage and Sucker bay. With wind, you will find walleyes shallower on rock flats cooperating as well down on the south end of Leech Lake.

Musky fishing has been consistent with shallow sand, weeds and rocks holding fish. Look for the weeds to be best on sunny days. Take advantage of bite windows focusing on the moon phase as well as weather patterns to increase success. Top water baits and bucktails continue to catch fish. Notable locations have been Portage bay weeds, Pencil Reeds, and weeds in and around Bear Island on the south end.

Tight lines!
