Ultimate Minnesota Fishing Report: Where Walleye, Bass & Panfish Are Biting Right Now (June 2025)

Four people—two adults and two children—stand behind a table displaying several freshly caught walleye. The group is outdoors next to a wooden fence, everyone smiling at the camera after a fun Minnesota fishing report outing.

🎣 Leisure Outdoor Adventures Weekly Fishing Report – June 2, 2025

Target Species: Walleye, Bass, Panfish
Featured Lakes: Leech Lake, Gull Lake, Lake Vermilion, Mille Lacs Lake
Water Temps: 62–68°F

🌊 Leech Lake Fishing Report

Water Temp: 62–66°F
Walleye: The bite remains consistent with fish holding on wind-driven shorelines and points. Focus on Traders Bay, Pelican Island, and Portage Bay in 8–14 feet of water. A jig and minnow combo is still producing, but leeches under a slip bobber are turning on with rising temps.
Bass: Smallmouth are moving up to spawn. Try jerkbaits or Ned rigs along rocky shorelines on the  South End and around Submarine Island.
Panfish: Bluegills and crappies are in shallow, warm bays just out from spawning areas. Use small plastics or hair jigs under a float in 2–6 feet.

🐟 Gull Lake Fishing Report

Water Temp: 64–68°F
Walleye: Active early and late in the day. Fish are scattered from 10–18 feet along Hayfield Bay, Grassy Point, and near Rock Pile Reef. Pulling live bait rigs with leeches or crawlers is working well. Leeches under bobbers are working as well.
Bass: Largemouth are aggressive. Fish docks and weed edges with Texas rigs, spinnerbaits, or topwater frogs in the evenings.
Panfish: Sunfish are finishing the spawn. Cast tiny jigs tipped with worms in Steamboat Bay and Love Lake area.

🐡 Lake Vermilion Fishing Report

Water Temp: 60–64°F
Walleye: Solid post-spawn bite on main lake reefs and shoreline breaks. Target 10–14 ft using slip bobbers and leeches or jig and shiner setups. Focus on Big Bay, Norwegian Bay, and Daisy Bay.
Bass: Smallmouth are cruising rocky flats. Try tubes, crankbaits, and drop shots near Stuntz Bay and Fraiser Bay.
Panfish: Crappies are shallow and biting aggressively on hair jigs in dark-bottom bays.

🐠 Mille Lacs Lake Fishing Report

Water Temp: 62–65°F
Walleye: A strong bite is happening early mornings and evenings on gravel and mud flats in 18–22 ft. Slip bobbers with leeches are hot around Three Mile Reef and Sherman’s Flat. Trolling spinners during the day is also producing.
Bass: Mille Lacs is on fire for smallmouth. Work rocky shorelines and boulder areas with tubes, jerkbaits, and swimbaits around Garrison Reef and Malmo Bay.
Panfish: Limited action, but warmer shallow bays may hold crappies early morning.

🎯 Fishing Tips of the Week

  • Early and late bite windows are crucial for Walleye success.
  • Slip bobbers with leeches are versatile and working across all lakes.
  • Bass are active—focus on rocky and weedy transitions.
  • For panfish, look for warm, shallow bays with cover.
