Reports of Walleye fishing has been best pulling cranks and using jigs in and around sand and weed flats on Leech Lake. The water temps are still pushing 70 deg by afternoon so the true fall bite locations have not yet been consistent. Look for depths in the 14-18ft range on most days. Some of the best locations have been between Annex Reef and Sugar point on the deep flats also the deeper flats of Portage and Sucker bay. Look for the weeds to be best on sunny days. Take advantage of bite windows focusing on the moon phase as well as weather patterns to increase success. Top water baits and bucktails continue to catch fish.
